Rahul to attend samvidhan suraksha meet on April 7
Patna: Congress neta Rahul Gandhi will visit the state capital on April 7 to attend the Samvidhan Suraksha Sammelan to be held at the S K Memorial Hall. This will be Rahul's third visit to poll-bound Bihar this year.
All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretary in charge for Bihar, Sushil Kumar Pasi, while talking to TOI, said the event was being organised to commemorate Salt Satyagraha, also known as the Dandi March, led by Mahatma Gandhi and the work done by Babu Jagjivan Ram. As a part of this event, Rahul will interact with a cross-section of people and social activists. Pasi said the event will be open for all.
When asked about frequent visits of Rahul to Bihar, he said, "Media may see his visits from the prism of elections, but Rahul Ji is connecting with people across the country. He wants to know about the problems being faced by the people of Bihar. There is unity in diversity, and through his visits to different places, he is exploring that."
To another question about Rahul's likelihood to join Congress neta and NSUI national in charge, Kanhaiya Kumar, in the latter's padyatra, Pasi said no such information has been received so far.
Sources said during his visit, Rahul will get in touch with people from across castes and sections, especially the Nonia community, who have had a history and tradition of making salt.
Rahul's April 7 visit comes a couple of days after the senior leadership of Congress held a meeting with party netas in New Delhi, in which Rahul was also present.
Earlier, Rahul had visited Patna on Feb 5 to attend an event to mark the birth anniversary of freedom fighter Jaglal Chaudhary. Before that, he came to the state capital on Jan 18 during which he went to Gardanibagh protest site to extend support to the BPSC aspirants. He also went to meet former Bihar CMs Lalu Prasad and Rabri at their home.
